Targeting Signs to the Consumer

Signs that display a message should inarguably impart that message to whoever reads it in a very clear. Demonstrating messages is often much more complex than this, however – in a sea of signs, your sign needs to stand out from the rest, while still managing to impart a clear message.

So, how should this be achieved? In this blog, Stick on Signs explore a few ways to make your sign that little bit better.

Making use of colours

One of the first things someone is going to notice about your sign from afar is its colour, or colours – a bright pink sign with yellow text is always going to stand out a lot more than a plain white one with black text, so why not experiment with colour? This does not necessarily mean that you have to go crazy with colour, as in the previous example, but effective and complementary colours can go a long way in attracting the attention of potential customers.

One of the other factors that plays into this is colour psychology – choosing the right shade of colours can also go a long way to encourage people to pay attention in a positive way.

Create something unique

Despite there being some great ideas floating around the internet, we recommend you try something a little bit different. Consumers are accustomed to seeing the same signs, and although they deliver their message, the way they do it is uninspired and might not interest your target audience. Instead, creativity is the way to set your business apart from the competition. This can mean well-implemented humour, interesting imagery, or effective use of font and presentation. Sometimes displaying a simple message isn’t enough!

Make your message clear

The inverse of the previous point is to make sure the message isn’t hidden by your creative approach. Covering a sign with jokes and colours might attract a lot of attention, but if there’s no real message to get across, the sign might be considered pointless. Making your voice and message clear is highly valuable in capturing the right kind of attention form customers.
